This Privacy Policy describes how Resonate Labs ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our binaural beats application ("the App") available on iOS, macOS, and iPad, with watchOS coming soon.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The App stores the following information locally on your device using iOS UserDefaults and Core Data:

• User Preferences: Your audio settings, preferred frequencies, volume levels, ambient sound choices
• Session History: Records of binaural beat sessions you've created and used (frequency, duration, timestamps)
• Custom Presets: Any custom binaural beat configurations you've saved
• App Settings: Dark mode preference, haptic feedback settings, notification preferences

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable CloudKit sync (future feature).

2.2 Information We Do NOT Collect

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
• Account credentials (no account required)
• Usage analytics or behavioral tracking
• Location data
• Device identifiers for advertising
• Browsing history or activity outside the App
• Contacts, photos, or other personal files

3. How We Use Your Information

The locally stored information is used solely to:

• Provide and improve the App's functionality
• Remember your preferences and settings across app sessions
• Display your session history and saved presets
• Enable audio playback with your chosen configurations
• Sync your data across your devices (if you enable CloudKit sync - future feature)

We do not use your data for:

• Advertising or marketing purposes
• Selling or sharing with third parties
• Analytics or user profiling
• Any purpose other than operating the App

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 Apple Services

The App uses the following Apple-provided services:

• App Store: For app distribution and in-app purchases (subject to Apple's Privacy Policy)
• CloudKit (Future Feature): For optional data sync across your devices using your iCloud account (subject to Apple's Privacy Policy)
• HealthKit (Future Feature): For optional logging of Mindful Minutes (requires explicit permission, data stored in Apple Health app)

When you use these services, Apple's privacy policies apply. We do not have access to your Apple ID, iCloud credentials, or Health data beyond what you explicitly authorize.

4.2 No Third-Party Analytics or Tracking

We do not use any third-party analytics services (such as Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, etc.). We do not embed any tracking pixels, cookies, or similar technologies.

5. Data Storage and Security

5.1 Local Storage

All app data is stored locally on your iOS device using:

• UserDefaults: For simple preferences and settings
• Core Data: For session history and custom presets

This data is protected by iOS's built-in security features, including device encryption and app sandboxing.

5.2 CloudKit Sync (Future Feature)

When CloudKit sync becomes available, you will have the option to sync your data across your devices using Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. This feature:

• Requires explicit opt-in
• Uses your iCloud account (we do not access your iCloud credentials)
• Encrypts data in transit and at rest using Apple's security standards
• Stores data in Apple's secure data centers (subject to Apple's Privacy Policy)

You can disable CloudKit sync at any time in the App settings.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is stored on your device for as long as you keep the App installed.

To delete your data:

• Individual Items: Delete specific sessions or presets within the App
• All App Data: Delete the App from your device (iOS will automatically remove all app data)
• CloudKit Data (Future): Disable CloudKit sync in settings and delete data from iCloud

Once deleted, data cannot be recovered unless you have a device backup.

7. Permissions

The App may request the following iOS permissions:

• Audio Playback: Required to generate and play binaural beats (automatically granted)
• Background Audio: Required for uninterrupted playback when app is in background
• Notifications (Optional): For session completion reminders and timers (requires explicit permission)
• HealthKit (Future, Optional): For logging Mindful Minutes to Apple Health (requires explicit permission)
• iCloud (Future, Optional): For CloudKit sync across devices (requires iCloud account)

You can manage these permissions in iOS Settings > Resonate Labs at any time.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will take steps to delete such information.

The App is rated 4+ on the App Store and contains no objectionable content.

9. International Data Transfers

Because all data is stored locally on your device (or in your personal iCloud account when sync is enabled), there are no international data transfers initiated by us.

If you enable CloudKit sync, your data may be stored in Apple's data centers located in various countries, as determined by your Apple ID country/region. Apple is responsible for the security and privacy of CloudKit data.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access: You can view all your data within the App (session history, presets, settings)
• Deletion: You can delete individual items or all data by deleting the App
• Portability: Export functionality (future feature) will allow you to export your data in standard formats
• Correction: You can modify your preferences and data at any time within the App

Since we do not collect personal information or maintain servers with your data, there is no need to contact us to exercise these rights.

11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). However, because we do not collect, store, or sell personal information, most CCPA provisions do not apply.

We confirm that:

• We do not sell your personal information
• We do not share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes
• We do not collect personal information beyond what is stored locally on your device

12. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). However, because we do not collect or process personal data on our servers, most GDPR provisions do not apply.

We confirm that:

• All data is stored locally on your device or in your personal iCloud account
• We do not act as a data controller or processor for your personal data
• We do not transfer data to third parties
• You maintain full control over your data through iOS settings and app features

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors.

We will notify you of any material changes by:

• Posting the new Privacy Policy on our website
• Displaying a notice within the App
• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy

Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
